河北快3What a lovely time we had at last week here in my hometown of Portland. Wonderful speakers, great topics, good friends, and an energized open source community. Videos will be coming soon, I'm told, for you to enjoy!

河北快3What is/was .NET Fringe?

.NET Fringe is a new conference focused on .NET developers who are breaking the rules and pushing the boundaries. The .NET platform is more interesting today than it ever has been! The old Microsoft that was at odds with Open Source has been replaced with one that is actively contributing to OSS and hosts a huge number of important projects on GitHub! The .NET OSS community has been collaborating and creating new, really exciting, interesting, and innovative projects which are changing the landscape. They are defining the future!

河北快3We had a great keynote from .NET OG Jimmy Bogard and lots of amazing talks. Here's just a sample:

  • from
  • by
  • with
  • with Frank Krueger
  • with James Nugent
  • with Adam Ralph

河北快3And really, so very much more. This is just a taste of the fun, fast, and often 300-level .NET content that the community brought to .NET Fringe.

The DotNetFringe 3D Printing Labs!We also reached out to the and setup a number of inexpensive 3D Printers and had them running the whole time! I've been into 3D Printing of late河北快3 and promoting the and we wanted to bring the joy of making to .NET Fringe as well! Many thanks to Ben and Bob for helping with this project!

Fringe was a great kick off to conference season for me.

河北快3Next up is BUILD in San Francisco. We've got some surprising announcements that are gonna blow your mind. You were impressed with what we've been doing with .NET and open source? We're just getting started. Big stuff coming soon.

河北快3If you couldn't get into BUILD or missed .NET Fringe, join me down in Arizona in May for .

This time I'm also joined with my friend from and Ruby Rogue, Saron Yitbarek to talk about all the great stuff we can do as developers on the open web.

河北快3 on node.js, ASP.NET 5, CSS, JavaScript, the Ionic Framwework, Google Analytics, AngularJS, IOT, Roslyn, and so much more.

Register now for and be sure to check out the Package deals that include AND a Surface 3 or Xbox! Here's a nice at AB.

I'm looking forward to meeting you, Dear Reader, at a conference one day, perhaps this year, perhaps next! Be well.

河北快3There's a new web conference happening in Vegas next month and you should join us. John Papa, myself and our friends pulled in the speakers from a combination of invitations and submitted talks. It's called and I hope to see you there.

My friends and I miss the old Mix conference and the great fun of web conferences in Vegas generally. So we talked to Richard Campbell and some friends and made our own show. (This is not a Microsoft show, to be clear)

This is the first year of anglebrackets and it's going to be a small conference and we have no money. Because of this, we are co-located with * and attendees can move between the two conferences.

河北快3You'll be able to enjoy web-focused, back-end non-specific web sessions from amazing web people like:

  • Lea Verou - Developer Relations at the @W3C
  • Christian Heilmann - Mozilla
  • Jonathan Snook - SMACSS.com Author
  • Elijah Manor - jQuery expert
  • Jim Cowart - appendTo()
  • Denise Jacobs - Creativity Evangelist
  • Phil Haack - GitHub
  • Scott Hanselman (me) - Web guy
  • and more!

We've got killer sessions like:

  • The Vanilla Web Diet
  • Modern JavaScript Development
  • Hands On Responsive Design with Twitter Bootstrap
  • Rich Data HTML Apps with Breeze
  • Getting Started with Require.js
  • TML5 Canvas and Kinetic.js
  • Eventing and Messaging in JavaScript
  • plus talks on SignalR, ASP.NET, PHP, Backbone, CSS, JavaScript Patterns, Gamifying your work, and lots more.

AUqYiSFK3v_1_1303867939All this and a special keynote from Mozilla Web Guy Christian Heilmann!

This conference will be a great way for you to get up to date on the modern web but also check out some of the DevIntersection talks on ASP.NET, Architecture, Elastic Scale in the cloud and more.

We're lean and mean and independent and we hope you join our first year.

If you you'll also get your choice of a Google Nexus 7 or a Microsoft Surface RT.

There's also some you should consider enrolling in:

  • April 8th
    • Day of Single Page Applications - John Papa, SPA and JavaScript expert
    • On the Metal: Essential HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript for All Developers (Bring your laptop!) - Todd Anglin, Telerik
    • Hacking the Creative Brain: Work Better, Produce More - Denise Jacobs, a TEDx speaker, Creativity Evangelist, and author of CSS Detective
    • Nimble and fast web apps for the mobile web - Christian Heilmann, Mozilla
  • April 12th
    • Building Applications with ASP.NET MVC 4 - K. Scott Allen, Author, Trainer and Consultant
    • User Experience Design for Non-Designers: An Interactive, Immersive Workshop - Billy Hollis, UX and App expert

The includes TWO workshops plus the tablet, and the includes one workshop and the tablet, or .

See you there!

* Yes, we took a little artistic license with the <tag/>, or <tag />, or <tag> if you are super pedantic. It is valid syntax although . The fact that you even noticed and want to argue is proof you should come to this conference. See what I did there?

Last week , Damian Edwards and myself (with a raspy throat) were up in Redmond at the Microsoft Campus filming at .

河北快3They've got a whole studio there so we spent the whole day presenting LIVE. There were several thousand folks watching live and interacting with

Very special thanks to and ASP.NET community members , , and 河北快3 who were furiously handling questions in the chats! Your volunteerism and dedication to the community is deeply appreciated! Let's give them a hand, eh?

Jon worked very hard to put together a great day of content based on the successful Web Camps classes we've given all over the world. We took all this and worked to so it's very up to date.

This module will review what's new in ASP.NET 4.5. It will provide an overview of strongly typed data controls and model binding in web forms, friendly URLs, page inspector, Visual Studio Web Editor features and much more.

In this session the instructors go over ASP.NET MVC 4 and provide several demos on creating a new site; adding a model, controller and view, to using entity framework code first. Lastly they demo how to deploy to Windows Azure Web Sites.

河北快3This module introduces you to the new standards of HTML5 and provides a demo of how powerful it is. Additionally you will see how it works with ASP.NET MVC 4, jQuery overview, Visual Studio Web Tools, Web Essentials and SPLA Template.

Have you always want to know how to build a service layer with ASP.NET Web API? This segment shows how ASP.NET Web API fits in, and how to consume Web API from jQuery and Windows 8.

Get ready to see several Demos leveraging ASP.NET skills to build apps for Office specifically using HTML 5+ jQuery and ASP.NET Web API. This module will also go into further details regarding apps for Office and how they work. Using jQuery inside Office is freaky and cool.

河北快3In this session you will see how to using social authentication with ASP.NET as well as an overview of the new Facebook application template.

This module will provide and overview of adaptive rendering in ASP.NET 4.5 and ASP.NET MVC 4. This is especially important since mobile is fast becoming the primary way people browse the web. We'll also cover jQuery Mobile.

In this segment the instructors go over SignalR, and an incredibly simple real-time web for .NET. It will also provide an overview for real-time hit counter, what SignalR is and how to build a chat application, a multi-player game and load balancing SignalR.

河北快3And where would we be if we could not scale it all up or down. This flexibility can be provided with Windows Azure. Here you will see how Windows Azure fits in with mobile services, virtual machines while managing caching and storage.

I hope you enjoy the day! Here's a complete course outline with jumps to specific spots:

This blog河北快3, my , my are all part of my online presence. While my day job is ensuring that Microsoft's web developer tools work well across many cross cutting concerns, my passion remains teaching.

河北快3When I went to work for Microsoft 5 years ago I made it clear that the blog, it's content, and my online voice would remain mine. I also told them I would do 'side work' in social media. Often I blog about the things I'm working on, but I also blog about family, diabetes, gardening, culture, diversity, languages, gadgets and lots more.

One of the things I enjoy doing besides programming and teaching, is helping folks in other industries manage their personal brands and use social media effectively. I've spoken at conferences and to many different blogging special interests from interior designers to bloggers of color.

河北快3The things I've learned - largely by making many mistakes - in the last 10+ years of blogging apply not just to the technical world, but to anyone with an online presence.

Last year at I presented the technical keynote along with my very close friends and . You may know from our podcast . works for and this year.

The audience was filled with bloggers of all interests. Tech, Culture, Social Justice, Entertainment, Cupcakes (yes!), Yoga, Green Lifestyles and hundreds more. Luvvie, Adria and I have three very different online styles but each is effective in its own way. We combined what we learned into what we think is an edutaining and useful talk.

Together we discussed how to effectively present a clear Voice online, how your Medium affects your Message. We explore different ways to Reach and audience, but then how to reach them in an authentic way. Then we cover consistent Visuals and what Results河北快3 look like.

河北快3The keynote was split into three segments. Luvvie starts at 2min in, Adria around 14 min, and me about 31 min, or .

I hope you enjoy it. We had a wonderful time creating and presenting it.

It was an insane week at BUILD. Much of my schedule was my own fault as I continue to treat Microsoft Outlook as if it were a game of Tetris, franticly packing appointments ten-deep.

河北快3The "Angle Brackets" team (ASP.NET, Azure, and Web Tools) had a good showing and lots of fun. We chose to create a little two day mini-conf by scheduling our talks on Thursday and Friday and I think it worked great. There was a Day 1 and . I had a . I kicked if off on Day 3 (Thursday) with an un-keynote at 8:30am called . Then the team had their talks on Thursday and Friday and finally Jon Galloway and I ended the show with the very LAST talk  on Friday afternoon called ""

河北快3See how we're BUILDing stuff? Each of these talks is code-heavy and focused on getting you working and building great stuff and hopefully having fun while you do it.

河北快3Be sure to check out all the BUILD talks. They are up on in their entirety, with both speaker cameras via Picture-in-Picture and high-def video. Hope you enjoy them!
